Kelly was born and raised in Southern California and developed a passion for food at a young age. As a child, she began experimenting with new recipes in her parent’s kitchen. Although she always had a more adventurous palate than her parents, that didn’t stop her from trying gourmet foods and exploring new cuisine. 

Kelly recently earned her BS degree in Hospitality Foodservice and Hotel Management from California State University Long Beach. Her five year foodservice career was kicked off at The Local Place (a division of King’s Hawaiian Bakery) in Torrance where she worked for three years in high school and college. Later, she gained more bakery experience at Cookies by Design in Long Beach. It was here where she was able to express her creativity and artistic abilities as a specialty cookie decorator. During her last year at CSULB, Kelly interned as a copywriter/catering assistant for Lucia and Company, which sparked her interest in food writing. In early 2010, four of her restaurant reviews were published in The District Weekly’s spring issue of the Best Food + Drinks Guide.
